DOES USING A STANDING DESK ALL DAY COUNT AS EXERCISE?

by Kevin Li 08 Jan 2024
Using a standing desk for extended periods of time does not necessarily count as exercise, as it typically does not provide the same level of physical activity as traditional exercise. Standing does engage some muscles and may help burn a few more calories than sitting, but it does not provide the cardiovascular or strength-training benefits of regular exercise.

While standing does promote better circulation and can help to alleviate some of the negative effects of prolonged sitting, it's important to remember that it is not a substitute for regular physical activity. It's still essential to incorporate dedicated exercise, such as aerobic activity, strength training, and flexibility exercises, into your routine to maintain overall health and fitness. Standing at a desk should be seen as a complementary activity, rather than a replacement for exercise.
